Mission Statement
Our mission statement is short but heartfelt. We are a church who want to be:
“Loving and Sharing Jesus.”
We see an ever-increasing need for this mission in our community as church attendance in Prestonpans has generally decreased over the last twenty years and outreach activities are still being re-established after the Covid lockdown. Despite these challenges we are encouraged by what we see God doing in and through our church. People have become Christians, have committed to the church and matured in their faith through the evangelism and discipleship ministry of the family of God.

At Prestongrange we may be small in number, but we are big in heart for the Lord!
Introduction
We are an informal and hospitable local church with members committed to engagement in the community. There is a healthy spiritual life within Prestongrange Church which is open to encouragement, challenge and being equipped to serve. There are many in the congregation who regularly participate in leading aspects of worship, and we have a weekly prayer breakfast and Ladies’ Bible Study. We have a well-established children ministry including outreach in partnership with other churches in the town. There is a willingness within the fellowship to try new things, embrace change and we are keen to develop our buildings to best serve the mission of the church.
Members of the session and congregation have been involved with the minister in the Path of Renewal programme which helps churches to develop a unified vision as they look to the future. This programme was curtailed by the Covid pandemic. However, the desire for growth in depth and number remains. We see a need for encouragement, training and the development of leadership to build the confidence of the congregation, allow the gifts within the church to flourish, and for people to commit to key roles within the church.
We have recently reviewed the communion roll which now stands at 94 and the average weekly attendance is between 30 to 40, with a range of ages from nursery through to those in their 80s and 90s. This gives us the opportunity to reach out to those on the fringes of the congregation and encourage them to reconnect with their faith and the church. In the last five years there have been between 10 and 15 new people coming to the church on a regular or semi-regular basis.
